Nestled in the midlands of South Carolina, Lexington County School District Three is approximately 32 miles from Columbia and 45 miles from Augusta, Georgia. Interstate 20 is approximately 8 miles from the town limit of Batesburg-Leesville. The school district encompasses all of Batesburg-Leesville and the surrounding area. Most of the district is located in Lexington County, but a small portion is also in Saluda County. Batesburg-Leesville Elementary School opened at our new facility in August 1996. Previously we were housed in a historically important but overcrowded circa 1905 building. Our old building is now the Lexington Three District Office. The current BLES is equipped with 35 classrooms, 3 computer labs, a science lab, a large multipurpose room, an efficient office complex, a roomy cafeteria with a modern kitchen and a complete media center. The building and 37-acre site are designed to accommodate future growth by extending two of the school’s three wings. With ample space this new facility allows BLES to expand opportunities for children and gives faculty and staff a safe conducive atmosphere in which to work. We greatly appreciate the support given us by the citizens of Lexington School District Three.
